  20. In the context of the modem world Flash ROM is usually intrepreted as
  21. meaining a modem that has the ability to have its working code (and in
  22. some cases its DSP code) replaced by new revisions through running a
  23. program or through transfering a special file via XModem.

  25. Modems with Flash ROM capability are far easier to upgrade as the
  26. working code is updated and refined.  Modems that do not have Flash
  27. ROM must have a ROM chip replaced if they are to be upgraded at all.
